Welcome!

Durbanville Golf Club in association with Pure Motion Golf are excited to launch the inaugural Anton Bezuidenhout Junior Classic in memory of the late Anton Bezuidenhout (1955 – 2021).

Anton played an integral part in the growth and development of not only Durbanville Golf Club but golf in general. He was an avid, competitive and talented golfer who loved the game. Anton represented Western Province over many years with distinction.

We would like to keep him close to our hearts and minds. Holding this yearly event in his name will do just that!

This year we are honoured to have Anton’s nephew Christiaan Bezuidenhout, a three time European Tour Winner, join us. He is fitting us into his busy schedule to connect with the juniors.

WHAT IS IN STORE FOR JUNIORS!

Christiaan is excited to be spending the day at the club with the juniors and is participating in a number of activities.

Juniors can look forward to:

A Master Class before tee off
Playing a few shots with him on the course
An exclusive putting session for the 9 hole players
And an interactive Q&A with Christiaan at the clubhouse after the event will be a highlight for many and shouldn’t be missed!

Learning from such an accomplished professional golfer is a rare and valuable opportunity and we’re fortunate that Christiaan has been able and so willing to spend time with us.

We encourage you to enter your junior for this unique event before it is booked up!

WHO CAN PLAY

All juniors aged 18 years and younger as at 2 December 2022. We welcome juniors from all clubs around the country.

Those who have an official Handicap Index may enter the 18 hole event.

Non handicapped golfers who are course ready may participate in the 9 hole short course event.

DETAILS

We are thrilled that Anton’s nephew, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, has agreed to join us for the day. His European Tour wins include the amazing achievement of victories in successive weeks at the Alfred Dunhill at Leopard Creek and the SA Open at the Gary Player Country Club. He also represented the International Team in the Presidents Cup in the USA earlier this year.

Christiaan will start the day with a Masterclass from 12h00-12h30. Throughout the afternoon he will be moving amongst the players on the course, offering some encouragement, advice and showing off a few shots, before joining the prize giving.

DETAILS:

The 9 Hole Competition (Non handicapped golfers)

For non handicapped players who will play off a shortened course. Players may only play to maximum of 3 over the Par on each hole after which they MUST pick up their ball and enter a score on their card of 4 over par with a ring around the number.

This will be played from 13h00. It will be followed by Christiaan offering some tips on the putting green before pizzas and prize giving.

The 18 Hole Competition (Golfers with an official Handicap Index)

Players will be placed in Divisions based on their Handicap Index (HI) on the day of the event.

BOYS

Division 1: White Tees: Age 13 and Over – 9.5 and below (Medal – Gross and Nett prizes)
Division 1: Blue Tees: Age Under 13 – 9.5 and below (Medal – Gross and Nett prizes)

Division 2: Blue Tees: 9.6 – 19.2 (Stableford)

Division 3: Red Tees: 19.3 + (Stableford)

GIRLS

All girls will play off the Red Tees

Division 1: 10.5 and below (Medal – Gross and Nett prizes)

Division 2: 10.6 and above (Stableford)

The Playing Handicap for both boys and girls will be 95% of the Course Handicap.

Starting from both the 1st and 10th tees from 12h45 onwards, the golf will be followed by pizzas, a Q&A session with Christiaan and prize giving.

COSTS

R150.00 for the 18 hole competition

R100.00 for the 9 hole competition

The cost includes: Entry fee, goodie bag, prizes and light snacks after the game as well as access to all scheduled activities with Christiaan.

Up to 48 hours before – full refund i.e. cancel on or before 12h00 on Wed 30 Nov
24 hours before – 50% refund i.e. cancel between 12h00 Wed 30 Nov – 12h00 on Thurs 1 Dec
No refunds will be given for cancellations less than 24 hours before the event (after 12h00 on Thurs 1 Dec) or for non-attendance
