Information
OOM Competition Terms
AGE:
There is a lower age limit of 6, and the junior must have had at least 6 months of coaching to have learned the basics and/or be considered course ready.
There is an upper age limit of Under 19 years as at 1 January 2026.
COURSE READINESS:
If during the year, Pure Motion Golf organisers feel that a junior does not meet the “course ready” requirements as detailed, the organisers may halt further participation by that junior in OOM. If you are in doubt about your child’s eligibility, please ask the coach to assess your child for ‘course readiness’ before registering them for OOM.
REGISTRATION DATES:
You may either register for multiple rounds at once on one form, or you can register per round throughout the year by completing a form each time. To avoid disappointment, we suggest you register for all or most rounds you intend to play to secure your spot, because last year we were fully booked multiple times.
Registration is available online from Wednesdays to Saturdays.
The tee time will only be reserved once payment has been made.
You will have 12 hours after submitting the registration to make payment.
RATES:
The discounted JAM Member rates are a perk JAM Member’s in good standing receive. You need to have a current JAM Membership to qualify for these rates on the dates of the rounds – if you select the JAM Member rate and cancel your JAM Membership, we will convert all rounds after your cancellation notice period to the Non-JAM Member rates and contact you with the details.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS:
There are no refunds, credits or carry-overs for any cancellations or non-attendance.
Refunds/Carry-overs will be issued if PMGA cancels the event due to bad weather or course closure.
The Tee Times will be emailed to you on Sunday evenings (by the latest on a Monday morning). We kindly request that parents/guardians notify us per return email should the junior not be able to attend a round they have registered for to allow our team to administer tee time changes for the field. These cancellations can also be made in writing to WhatsApp +27 76 247 0501 and must be done at the latest on Monday by the end of day. Should there be an emergency (late cancellation), please let us know as soon as possible on the Tuesday of the round. Not arriving multiple times could mean your junior is removed from the OOM Competition allowing other players a spot (as OOM has a limited number of spots available).
LATE ARRIVALS:
The junior is required to arrive 15 – 20 minutes prior to their tee off time to check in at the office to collect their scorecard. Players who do not arrive and check in 15 minutes before their tee time will removed for that day as a “no show”.
Late arrivals will result in a delay for the other players in your junior’s group. Should there be regular cancellations, late cancellations or no shows your junior may have to forfeit the round if they cannot be slotted into a group teeing off later.
DRESS CODE – CLUB RULES:
It is club rules that all children are to wear appropriate neat golf attire, these include; collared or crew neck shirts, sports or long pants, golf shorts, closed sport or golf shoes, appropriate cold/wet weather golf attire and hats. No T-shirts, No Jeans, No Tracksuit Pants, No sandals.
It is a strict requirement at DGC that all golfers carry a sandbag to fill their divots
SUPERVISION & CONDUCT:
Junior golfers 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. The adult must be prepared to assist the child with scoring, club choice and carrying/carting clubs if needed.
Parents/adults accompanying players of any age should refrain from addressing any concerns about rules of play, etc. directly with other juniors and should not interfere in the course of play. Parents/adults should address any questions or concerns with the organisers after the round.
FORMAT:
Stableford
BOYS Age 13 years and over – Blue tees
BOYS Age 12 years and under – Red Tees
GIRLS – Red tees
HANDICAPS:
The Handicap Index (HI) on the day of the round will determine the Course Handicap.
Those with no official handicap will initially be allocated a Handicap Index of 36.0.
Official Handicap Requirement: To Ensure an even playing field for all competitors, players playing without an official handicap will be required to go through the official process to be handicapped after 6 OOM rounds. Our dedicated team will assist players in this regard.
STANDARD COURSE SCORING:
All Stableford players are required to keep a scorecard and mark their playing partner’s card. Scorecards must be handed in at the Scoring Table before leaving the event.
All players are required to record the full set of stats: FW (fairways hit), GIR (greens in regulation) and Putts taken on each hole. If these Stats are not recorded for any 1 round the player will be removed from the Stats Competition immediately for the rest of the year.
KICKSTARTER SCORING:
All players are required to keep a scorecard and mark their playing partner’s card. Scorecards must be handed in at the Scoring Table before leaving the event.
All shots taken are counted to make up a Score for each hole. There is a maximum of 7 shots to be recorded on each hole. Once a player has taken 6 shots, but not holed the ball, the player must pick up their ball, record the score as 7 and move to the next tee.
They must not place a ring on the 7.
Accompanying adults may need to help the players keep score.
All players are required to record the number of putts taken on each hole. If these Stats are not recorded for any 1 round the player will be removed from the Stats Competition immediately for the rest of the year.
RESULTS:
STABLEFORD: Updated scoring system for 2026
OOM Point System:
The Order of Merit (OOM) encourages juniors to participate regularly and perform consistently throughout the year. Stableford points will inform the OOM Points. OOM points will be awarded for every round played and for finishing positions.
Finishing Position Points (Front & Back 9)
1st – 60
2nd – 52
3rd – 45
4th – 38
5th – 30
6th – 25
7th – 20
8th – 15
9th to last participant – 10
Points from all rounds are added to their cumulative OOM total.
If two or more players tie in a round, each player receives the points for that position, and the next positions are skipped based on the number of tied players. Example: 3 players tie for 2nd Place – Each tied player receives 52 points, 3rd and 4th places are skipped, and the next player will be 5th place with 30 points.
The weekly results are published as the Stableford points as well as OOM points earned for the round. The leaderboard shows the total annual OOM points and the number or rounds played to date. The leaderboard adds each week’s OOM points, which determines the year-end placing.
KICKSTARTER: The weekly results are published as the total score for the round, and the leaderboard as the average score of all rounds played to date.
DISQUALIFICATION AND PENALTY INFO:
Scorecard signed with the incorrect score (lower than actual) on any given hole = disqualification.
Scorecard signed the with incorrect score (higher than actual) on any given hole = the higher score becomes the official score.
Stats (FW, GIR and Putts) not recorded for any 1 round – player removed from the stats competition immediately for the rest of the year.
PRIZES:
To qualify for prizes, a player must participate in a minimum of 12 rounds during the year and they must have played 6 rounds of front 9 and back 9 each. Remaining rounds can be any 9.
Prizes in several categories are awarded at an end of year prize-giving, including the leading players in each statistical category, the best putters, the most improved golfer and for sportsmanship.
NOTE: NO PLAYER MAY WIN MORE THAN ONE END OF YEAR PRIZE
Should a player move from OOM Kickstarter to OOM Standard or vice versa during the year, their scoring/results would re-start.
