2024 Pilot at Hazendal Golf
Growing a love for this game in the hearts of the youth remains our goal and we are excited to launch our School Team Golf Programme (STGP).
It is aimed at schools and individuals who do not have a formal Golf programme running at their school but would love to and don’t have the capacity to do so.
We have created an environment that is geared to offer fresh and affordable opportunities for young scholars to learn, form teams, and play weekly, and in so doing, represent their schools in as formal or informal a capacity as they choose.
These lessons include encouraging camaraderie and good sportsmanship – foundations of the sport. For the more established players, we will ensure they do not forget the fundamental purpose of golf – enjoyment. We pride ourselves in sharing our juniors’ achievements and love of the game.”

The Benefits for Schools & Players
It teaches skills that are not only valuable in golf but in academic studies and everyday life, such as; preparedness, punctuality, concentration, patience, honesty, integrity, respecting rules, respecting others, teamwork, taking advice and direction, physical fitness, coordination, and flexibility.
Schools that do not have the resources to offer a formal golf programme themselves no longer need to find the budget and capacity to do so – they can meet that need by sharing the information about our STGP with their learners and parents.
In other words, organised golf programmes mean a well-rounded education as academic and physical activity promotes the overall development of a learner.
Our dedicated team ensures they have fun while learning in a safe outdoor environment.
Reduced lesson and round rates
An official PMGA cap with your school name
Discounts on PMGA events fees (ie. OOM, AIM, Holiday Programme)
Access to our partners (biokineticists and physios) at preferred rates
Preferred rates for equipment and gear
Sportsmanship & healthy competition
As soon as there are enough teams, we will begin the Inter-Schools Challenges (ISC) to allow the learners to put their newfound skills to the test in healthy but competitive tournaments. At PMGA, we have been running our Order of Merit at Durbanville GC for 12 years for our Junior Academy members to promote sportsmanship and prepare aspiring junior golfers for future competitions.
How it works…
Schools send the information to the parents
Ideal for junior golfers (or aspiring golfers) where schools do not offer a Golf programme, the juniors can get together as a team at Hazendal weekly to get professional training. And eventually, participate in Inter-Schools Challenges.
Parents pick a suitable day and time
The most popular day and time selected will be the Teams’ fixed slot. Parents might want to get together to coordinate.
We confirm the School Team schedule
When there are a minimum of 4 players (and a max of 8) from your school who have expressed interest, we’ll see which day and time was most popular and send details to parents together with your invitation to register and the proposed start date!
Parents Register their Players
Rounds of 18 holes can be booked for course ready players at a significantly reduced rate. Rounds would be on the same day following the Group Lesson.
If there are less than 4 from some schools, we may combine them into a Combined Team (multiple schools) until there are 4, so please express interest even if you are not sure how many from your school are interested.
How to join…
Express interest in starting a school team or join a participating team.
Success Stories
Henru Walter’s Journey with Pure Motion Golf
by Ruanette Walters
From Junior lessons to representing Durbanville High School, to being selected for the 2023 Western Province u/19 IPT and 2024 Challenge IPT tournaments and to recently celebrating his first national win in the GolfRSA SA Boys under 17 tournament.!
Henru started his journey with Lana and the Pure Motion Golf Academy in 2020
after we moved from the Free State. From the onset the interaction with Lana
and her team was an amazing experience. Not only did Lana welcomed us as
clients, she took Henru under her wing and started working on various aspects
of his game. Her interaction with Henru is always professional and she always make time to
listen to him and over the years build a trust relationship with him to such an
extend that he trust her opinion and guidance not only as his golf coach, but as
a role model in his life. She worked on various aspects including his swing,
posture, game management and mindset towards the game. His handicap steadily decreased year after year. When he started with Lana,
his handicap was a 14 and today his handicap consistently varies between a +3
and +4. Under her guidance he had various tournament wins and
achievements in Western Province Golf tournaments as well as Golf RSA
tournaments. As a 15 year old golfer, he is competing in under 17, under 19 as
well as in men’s tournaments because of the positive mindset and work ethic
she helped instilled in him. His most recent national win was in Kimberley in
the Golf RSA SA Boys under 17 tournament. He was also selected for the 2023
Western Province u/19 IPT and 2024 Challenge IPT tournaments of which
Western Province won both. His first call after each round is always to Lana.
She also assist him during tournaments via video analysis and is always
supportive of his journey. The Pure Motion Golf Academy team is friendly, professional and encouraging
and has definitely made a huge impression on us as a family. We have referred
various other juniors to the Academy and will keep doing so as we believe that
golf coaching is a passion to the whole team and Lana is always willing to walk
the extra mile. We believe that the Academy will grow from strength to
strength. Thanks Lana for being Henru’s other mother and treating us like
family.

Feedback from clients
Coach: Matthew Kilfoil
How would you rate your overall experience?: Excellent
How would you rate the improvement?: Leaps and bounds better than before
COMMENT:
“Allow me to share my experiece with you. Beginning 2022 I registered my grandson (8 yrs) with your academy. He lacked general cofidence and being small in posture has never excelled in contact sport at school. Matthew took him “under his wing” as coach and mentor.
Within ONE YEAR(!) he now is a little 9 year old boy filled with confidence. He is showing a lot more concentration in his class at school and every game played at the golfclub I can seen improvement!
He refers to Pure Motion as “his school ” and to Matthew as “my coach” – he will do whatever it takes to enhance the environment he is coached in – it is like he now has something he totally believes in.
Thank you and your team of coaches (Paul, Nina, Bob, etc) for making this year’s experience so special for him.”
My Journey with Pure Motion Golf
by Jordan Rothman – Full Scholarship from Kansas University USA
From Junior lessons to Order of Merit to winning tournaments and ending up in the USA!
I started playing golf when I was 11 years old. My dad saw potential in me so he took a video of my swing and showed it to Coach Lana. She saw I had talent and told my dad that I should start with lessons as soon as possible. That is really when my whole life changed because that is when I found my passion.
I improved a lot in a short amount of time which pushed me to work harder because I loved the idea of getting better every day, seeing myself hit a little bit further or a little bit straighter. I started playing in the Order of Merit Tuesday competitions which introduced me to competitive golf on a small scale. It was a great way to get into a competitive mindset without feeling overwhelmed.
Over the years I achieved many things in South Africa and won a couple of big golf tournaments too. When I was 15, I won the SA women’s match play and that’s when doors opened for me, I started getting messages and emails from universities in America asking me to play for and study with them. None of this would ever have been possible without Coach Lana helping me and guiding me to success.
When I started, I fell in love with the game and what helped me a lot was having friends at the golf course who had the same passion and goals as me. Practicing alone can sometimes be a little harder which is why it is always good to have people around you to practice with and to have people who are always pushing you to play your best. Pure Motion became my second home because I was there pretty much every day. I made friends that will always be a part of my life.
Today after a long journey of ups and downs I made it to America where I am representing the University of Kansas on the golf course and getting a degree in Sports Management. I am still getting coached by Coach Lana even on the other side of the world and I am still in contact with most of my friends that I played with when I started.
